A day in the life - beginings

The purpose behind this blog is to share experiences and photographs of occasions taken in and around Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Morepork is the pakeha (European New Zealander) name for the New Zealand owl - its Maori name is Ruru. "Morepork" represents the call of the owl. Some Maori mythology links the call of the owl as a harbinger of death but it also is known as a totem or companion to the living and as such is seen as a positive protector and life affirming presence.
Ruru is an observer hence the link to photography in NZ.
My family and my father in particular have always been keen amateur photographers, with most of our family events recorded in photos and home movies. I continue this tradition.
